United Way of Kenosha County Announces Interim CEO and Search Process

United Way of Kenosha County is entering a new chapter as the organization prepares for a leadership transition.

Following the resignation of CEO Carolynn Friesch, the Board of Directors has appointed former United Way executive David Maurer as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective May 18, 2026.

Maurer brings extensive experience within the United Way network and a strong understanding of community impact work. In this interim role, he will provide leadership to staff, oversee day to day operations, and continue building relationships with donors, partners, and the broader community.

“We are grateful for Mr. Maurer’s willingness to step in once again during this important time for our organization,” said Board President Tanya Ruder. “His past service and familiarity with United Way of Kenosha County make him an excellent fit. We are confident he will provide the steady leadership needed during this transition.”

At the same time, the Board has officially launched a search for the organization’s next permanent CEO. This process is an important step in ensuring strong leadership for the future and continued progress toward the organization’s mission.
