Readers Are Leaders Event

readers are leaders Event

When

United Way of Kenosha County's 9th Annual Readers Are Leaders event was held on March 13, 2018, in conjunction with Read Across America and the birthday of Dr. Seuss.  More than 200 classrooms across Kenosha County registered and over 5,200 students heard various Dr. Seuss stories.  Thanks to our volunteers and sponsors, our 2018 event was a huge success!

Stayed tuned for more information on our 2019 event. Dates and times will be posted by February 2019.

Why?

Volunteers read a Dr. Seuss book provided by United Way of Kenosha County and engaged students with questions about the story.  By volunteering, our readers show students why reading is so important and, most importantly, show them that we care about their success.

Where

On the day of the event, volunteers convene at Gateway Technical College's Madrigrano Auditorium at 8:00 AM for a brief program and to pick up their materials.  After a group photo, volunteers depart for their assigned classrooms.
