Applications Open for UWKC Collegiate Board Member

The United Way of Kenosha County (UWKC) Collegiate Board Member role is to bring the young adult voice to the Board to maintain awareness, attentiveness and intention to serve young adult populations in our community. The UWKC College Board Member is an unofficial, non-voting member of the UWKC Board and serves at the discretion of the Board. The UWKC will maintain a minimum of two (2) Collegiate Board Members at any given time and a maximum of four (4) during a transition period.

The Collegiate Board Member’s voice is desired to understand the concerns of younger donor philanthropic desires, volunteer interests, methods for giving and more. The UWKC Board is providing an experiential learning opportunity in non-profit board membership to the College Board Member(s).

Responsibilities:
  • Attend all open meetings of the UWKC Board, the collegiate member will not attend closed or executive sessions of the UWKC Board. There are six (6) meetings annually on Wednesday mornings which may fall over educational institution break periods.
  • Receive all non-confidential materials for the UWKC Board meetings for review.
  • Actively participate in UWKC Board discussions and engage with any presenters.
  • Have the right to participate in any ad-hoc committees at the discretion of any Board Officer.
  • Encouraged to attend at least one meeting of each standing committee during their term and attend at least one standing committee with some regularity based upon potential contributions and personal professional goals.
  • Maintain awareness of current UWKC Board issues and concerns.
  • Present a positive image of UWKC in person and online to the community.
  • Refer any questions regarding UWKC Board operations to the Board Chair and UWKC operations to the Chief Executive Officer of the UWKC.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Preference for registered, degree or certification seeking student, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average from the following higher education institutions:
    • Carthage College
    • Gateway Technical College
    • Herzing University
    • University of Wisconsin-Parkside
  • Attend Collegiate Board Member orientation (at least one session prior to start of service).
  • Connect with UWKC Board Mentor regularly as part of ongoing orientation.
  • Fulfill a two year term.
  • If circumstances change and the student serving needs to end their term early, notify the Chief Executive Officer of the UWKC.
