Readers Are Leaders

readers are leaders

United Way of Kenosha County's 9th Annual Readers Are Leaders event was held on March 13, 2018, in conjunction with Read Across America and the birthday of Dr. Seuss.  This year, more than 200 classrooms across Kenosha County was registered and over 5,200 students heard various Dr. Seuss stories.  Thanks to our volunteers and sponsors, our event was a huge success!

Volunteers read a Dr. Seuss book that was provided by United Way of Kenosha County and engaged students with questions about their story.  By volunteering, our readers showed students why reading is so important and, most importantly, showed them that we care about their success.

Volunteers convened at Gateway Technical College's Madrigrano Auditorium at 8:00 AM for a brief program and picked up their materials.  After a group photo, they then departed for their assigned classrooms.

Stay tuned for our 2019 event which will be posted in our Volunteer Center in February 2019.  Questions?  Contact Teri Gamble via email at or call at 262-658-4104.
