Following a comprehensive search and in-depth interview process, the United Way of Kenosha County (UWKC) Board of Directors has selected Selina Gomez-Beloz as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer. Gomez-Beloz will step into her new role on July 6, 2026, leading UWKC as it continues its work to improve lives and strengthen communities throughout Kenosha County.
The Board conducted an extensive search to identify a leader who embodies United Way’s mission, demonstrates a commitment to community impact, and possesses the strategic vision necessary to guide the organization into its next chapter of service. After evaluating a highly qualified pool of candidates, the interview committee unanimously selected Gomez-Beloz for her leadership experience, community-centered approach, and proven ability to strengthen organizations and partnerships.
“After a thorough selection process, we are excited to welcome Selina as our next CEO,” said UWKC Board President Tanya Ruder. “Her passion for community engagement, collaborative leadership style, and track record of organizational excellence made her stand out among an exceptional group of candidates.”
Selina Gomez-Beloz brings more than 20 years of nonprofit and public sector leadership experience, with a career spanning executive management, federal grantmaking, and community development. Most recently, she served as Senior Program Manager at the Institute of Museum and Library Services, where she oversaw the American Rescue Plan grant program supporting 131 libraries nationwide, including public, Native American, and Native Hawaiian institutions.
Previously, Gomez-Beloz served as Executive Director of public libraries in two communities, leading organizations with budgets of up to $4.4 million and teams of up to 73 staff members. Throughout her career, she has focused on building partnerships, expanding access to resources, and advancing initiatives that strengthen communities.
Gomez-Beloz holds a Master of Nonprofit Management from DePaul University and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. A bilingual leader fluent in English and Spanish, she has worked with diverse communities across Illinois, Indiana, and Washington State.
"As a librarian, my role was always to connect people with the resources and information they needed in the moment,” said Gomez-Beloz. “I've always appreciated United Way as being library-adjacent in that way, and I'm passionate about bringing that same spirit of connection to this community."
Gomez-Beloz succeeds Carolynn Friesch, whose leadership helped guide the organization through a period of growth, innovation, and expanded community engagement. The Board expressed its appreciation for Friesch’s contributions and is eager to continue building on the momentum established during her tenure.
The Board also extended its appreciation to Dave Maurer, who stepped in as Interim CEO during the leadership transition. His steady leadership, guidance, and commitment to the organization ensured continuity for staff, partners, donors, and the community throughout the search process. The Board is grateful for his willingness to serve and support UWKC for a successful leadership transition.
As CEO, Gomez-Beloz will lead UWKC’s efforts to mobilize resources, strengthen partnerships, and address critical community needs across Kenosha County. Her priorities will include supporting the organization’s strategic goals, expanding community impact, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of UWKC’s programs and initiatives.
“We are confident Selina will advance our mission of improving lives throughout Kenosha County,” Ruder added. “We look forward to the leadership, energy, and vision Selina will bring as we continue working together to create opportunities for every member of our community to thrive.”
