As the Director and Health Officer of a Level III county health department located in Southeastern Wisconsin that borders Lake Michigan and Illinois, Cindy is responsible for directing an interdisciplinary team of nearly 70 professionals that provide public health programs and services to a community of 168,000-plus residents. “Health is our business…Committed to a Healthy Kenosha” is their vision statement. Her team achieved national Public Health Accreditation (PHAB) in 2013 and focuses on implementation and enforcement of statutory requirements; infrastructure, system and capacity building; utilizing evidence-based and best practices; collaboration with numerous partners-local community, state, regional and those from border counties; and the pursuit of health equity. For 30 years Cindy has been employed in the field of public health, is a MARPHLI graduate, and additionally provides leadership to a diverse collaborative of county-wide healthcare executives. She is a member of state and national public health associations, serves on several state Advisory Boards, past President of the Southeast Region Wisconsin Association of Local Health Department and Boards (WALHDAB), State WALHDAB Board Representative for the Southeast Region, a United Way-Kenosha board member, and past board member of the Kenosha federally-qualified health center. She is married, has eleven grandchildren and three standard poodles.
