Does it cost me anything to use the Volunteer Center’s Website
to search for opportunities?
No, it is completely free. Our mission is to connect people with opportunities for community service. We do not charge agencies or volunteers for our referral services. Our programs are funded through a combination of individual gifts, corporate donations and foundation grants.

How do I get started?
You may begin by clicking on Search for Opportunities, where you may search by zip code, issue or key word. If you would like to refine your search, you may register and fill out a profile with your particular interests. You can elect to receive automatic email updates when new opportunities are entered into the database. When you register, you are also asked to provide basic demographic data which helps the Volunteer Center understand local trends in community service.

Can I search for a specific agency by name?
Yes, click on Search for Opportunities and then click on Agencies. Type in the specific agency that you are looking for, or a portion of their name, and the system will find them for you.

Why is it that some agencies request that I telephone, rather than e-mail?
Some of the organizations that the Volunteer Center works with do not have email accounts, so we include a telephone number where you may contact them.

Why are there multiple contacts for agencies?
In most cases, the agency lists a primary contact, usually the Executive Director, for the agency, as well as a contact for the specific volunteer opportunity. Some agencies have multiple volunteer opportunities, with different people responsible for service opportunities.

What if no one responds to my request to volunteer?
If no one responds to your request, please e-mail the Volunteer Center at volunteer@kenoshaunitedway.org, or call us at (262) 925-8441. Please tell us the specifics of your situation; we will also attempt to follow up with the agency for you.

Who can post volunteer opportunities on this Website?
Most nonprofits that qualify as a 501(c) three organization under the IRS tax code can post their volunteer needs on this database. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact the Volunteer Center at (262) 925-8441 or send an email tockruse@kenoshaunitedway.org. Or, you may go directly to www.volunteersolutions.org/kenosha and register your agency. Your registration will be approved within 48 hours.
