Volunteerism Initiative
United Way initiatives are, by definition, efforts explicitly designed to improve lives by mobilizing strategic resources to bring about lasting improvements in community conditions. Whether it’s helping a senior citizen with groceries or serving on the board of a local non-profit organization, mobilizing our community through volunteerism is one of the most important things we can do to change lives. The United Way of Kenosha County volunteerism initiative gets people involved in their neighborhoods and communities. The objectives of the initiative are to:
- Encourage Kenosha ’s citizens to participate in voluntary organizations
- Improve the capacity of nonprofit organizations to deliver programs and services for the benefit of Kenosha ’s citizens
- Enhance the experience of volunteering
- Increase participation in our community through volunteering
The United Way of Kenosha County Volunteer Center is the “one stop shop” where individuals can seek out and inquire about volunteer opportunities, and where nonprofit agencies can list and promote their volunteer needs. The center is registered with the Points of Light Foundation and can be accessed through the internet at www.volunteersolutions.org/kenosha/volunteeror by calling the United Way office at 262.658.4104.
